Fall Fun for St. Louis Seniors & their Families

The cool weather and changing leaves make it a great time to get out and enjoy the fall before the busyness of the holiday season kicks in. We found some fun activities that St. Louis seniors might enjoy checking out with friends and family.

• Soldier Memorial Museum – The Soldier’s Memorial Military Museum has reopened after a two year, $30 million dollar renovation. Check out the many changes and improvements to the previously overlooked St. Louis museum.
• Crestwood-Sunset Hills Rotary’s Arts and Crafts Fair – November 17-18 the Crestwood-Sunset Hills Rotary will host its annual Arts and Crafts Fair at Lindbergh High School. Stroll through more than 450 booths. Proceeds benefit local and international charities.
• Ameren Missouri Festival of Lights – Usher in the holiday season at Kiener Plaza on November 17 with a host of entertainment, lighting of the Salvation Army Tree of Lights, festive fireworks and the Winterfest skating rink.
• Gardenland Express at the Missouri Botanical Gardens – The annual flower and model train show runs from November 18 through January 1. Trains travel along 900 feet of track through miniature holiday landscape made of festive decorations and thousands of fresh plants.
• The Polar Express at Union Station – Experience the magic of the classic children’s book, The Polar Express. The train ride departs from St. Louis Union Station for a 45 minute adventure to the North Pole filled with magic, songs and cheer. The experience runs from November 16 through December 30.
• Let’s Play Ball! Historic Games of America’s Favorite Pastime – Enjoy games based on baseball greats, pinball’s predecessor, baseball cards from unlikely sources, and a few games made right here in St. Louis. It’s sure to be a home run for the whole family. The exhibit is running now through January 20, 2018. (Note: This exhibit is on the third floor of the historic Field House Museum, which is not handicap accessible.)
• David Hutson: Memory & Desire, A Personal Exploration of Neon Art Past and Present – This exhibit showcases a large outdoor neon sculpture, paired with Hutson’s extensive collection of reclaimed and restored vintage neon signs. These original and restored signs are likely to rekindle fond memories of days past. The exhibit is running now through January 13, 2019.
