5 August Events for Seniors & their Families
As is often the case, the summer seems to be flying by. August is a great chance to fit in some fun before fall arrives and grandkids head back to school. We’ve found some August outings for seniors and their loved ones to check out.
- Baseball in St. Louis: The Photography of George Burke and George Brace – Baseball fans will enjoy a look back in time at the photographs of George Burke and George Brace, who produced one of the most comprehensive collections of baseball photography in the 20th century. The exhibit runs through September 9 at the International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum.
- Meet Me in St. Louis at the Muny – The Muny finishes their 100th year with the classic, Meet Me in St. Louis, which runs August 4-12. A St. Louis summer isn’t complete without a trip to the Muny, the nation’s largest and oldest continually operating outdoor theater. For a deeper look at the Muny’s 100 year history, check out the Missouri History Museum’s Muny Memories Exhibit.
- The Legacy of Tin Pan Alley – Visit the Missouri History Museum for The Legacy of Tin Pan Alley, a narrated history presented alongside popular and classical music performances of the 20th Century. The event occurs the evening of Thursday, August 16.
- St. Louis YMCA Book Fair – Stop by the 40th Annual YMCA Book Fair at the Greensfelder Recreation Center in Queeny Park. Everyone in the family is bound to find something of interest at this huge annual fair. The sale runs Friday, August 17 through Tuesday August 21.
