Fall Fun for Seniors & Families
Cooler weather and beautiful changing leaves make fall a great time for family activities. Below are a few activities we think are worth checking out.
- Union Station – Originally opened in 1894, St. Louis Union Station recently underwent a grand renovation. What was once a bustling train station now houses an elegant hotel. The Historic Landmark’s Grand Hall features an amazing high-definition projection on its 65-foot tall ceilings.
- Eckert’s Belleville Farm – Fall is a great time to hop over the Mississippi River to visit Eckert’s. Get in the holiday spirit at their Holiday Open House, Breakfast with Santa and Gingerbread House Workshops. Visit their website for event details.
- Try a new fall recipe – Baking is a great way to spend time with family and friends. Enjoy the taste of the season with fall ingredients. Click here for a list of fall recipes recommended by the Midwest Living. Or, check out a cooking class at your local Dierberg’s.
- Route 66: A 90th Anniversary Celebration – This mini-exhibition of photographs was put together to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the classic road. It runs through January 21 at the Sheldon Art Galleries.
- Gardenland Express at the Missouri Botanical Gardens – The annual flower and (model) train show runs from November 19 through January 1. Trains travel along 900 feet of track through miniature holiday landscape made of festive decorations and thousands of fresh plants.
- Thanksgiving Day Parade – The annual parade along Market Street in downtown St. Louis has more than 100 units, including floats, balloons and marching bands. The 2016 Parade starts at 8:45am on Thursday, November 24.
